Lionel Messi missed a penalty in the second half as FC Barcelona suffered a 1-0 loss to Espanyol in the first leg of their Copa del Rey quarterfinal tie. Luis Suarez was left out of the Barca line up, as Lionel Messi led the attack with Denis Suarez and Aleix Vidal. The visitors looked threatening in the early stages as Sergio Busquets forced Diego Lopez into a fine save inside the opening 10 minutes. Espanyol were content on sitting back with the hope of catching Barca on the break, although they struggled to get out of their own half. That proved to be the trend for the rest of the first half as the sides went into the break scoreless. Messi went close to breaking the deadlock 10 minutes into the second half, but his long range strike was saved by Lopez. Shortly after the hour mark, Barca were awarded a penalty when Sergi Roberto was brought down. Messi stepped up but saw his spot-kick saved by Lopez. With 10 minutes remaining, Ernesto Valverde introduced Rafinha

Neymar was jeered by Paris St-Germain fans after he denied Edinson Cavani the chance to become the club's all-time top scorer during the Ligue 1 side's rout of mid-table Dijon. Cavani's first-half strike saw him draw level with Zlatan Ibrahimovic with 156 goals in all competitions for PSG. The hosts led by 4-0 at half-time and Neymar had already completed a hat-trick before PSG were awarded a penalty. However, the Brazilian's decision to take the spot-kick instead of allowing Cavani to take it resulted in whistles from the home crowd, but coach Unai Emery defended him after the match. "I think Neymar took the penalty because it was also a good day for him," Emery said. "We're happy with it. But there will be lots more chances for Cavani to score more goals." PSG defender Thomas Meunier described it as "a bit of a shame and a bit ungrateful" but acknowledged that Neymar was his side's penalty taker. "He co

Hector Bellerin's stunning injury-time strike earned Arsenal a point against Chelsea in one of the most entertaining matches of the Premier League season so far. The two sides shared an incredible 33 chances, with the heroic keeping of Gunners' Petr Cech and Blues' Thibaut Courtois ensuring only four goals were conceded. Courtois had made exceptional stops to deny Alexis Sanchez and Alexandre Lacazette before he was finally beaten when Jack Wilshere fired high past him in the 63rd minute. The lead only lasted four minutes, Eden Hazard converting from the spot to level after his foot had been caught by Bellerin. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger labelled Anthony Taylor's decision "farcical", adding "you could give 10 penalties like that a game". Chelsea must have thought they had secured all three points when Marcos Alonso flicked home substitute Davide Zappacosta's low cross after 84 minutes. But in the second minute of stoppage time
